Reuben D. Kim, Esq. focuses his practice on the representation of common interest developments throughout California. For the past seven years, he has served as general counsel to residential, mixed-use, and commercial community associations, advising boards of directors and management companies on a wide range of legal and governance matters.
Mr. Kim provides strategic guidance on governing document interpretation and amendment, enforcement and compliance issues, architectural and disability accommodation requests, assessment collections, contract negotiation, maintenance and cost-allocation disputes, construction defect matters, and risk management under the Davis-Stirling Act and California Corporations Code. He works closely with boards and managers to deliver practical, solution-oriented advice tailored to each community’s operational needs.
He has spoken at programs hosted by the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and other legal symposiums on topics affecting common interest developments. He is active in CAI’s Greater Inland Empire Chapter (CAI-GRIE) and is a member of all eight CAI chapters throughout Southern California.
Prior to focusing on community association law, Mr. Kim served as in-house counsel for a Los Angeles-based entertainment company and later practiced civil litigation representing financial institutions in complex real estate matters. He is admitted to practice before all California state courts and the United States District Courts in California.
